Watching on Baker+

How the pages are organised, how to play a title and how to find something to watch.

The home page

New visitors land directly on the home page. It is a stack of horizontal rows. Rows without any titles are left out, so the page can look slightly different from day to day.

Spotlight slider

The wide banner strip at the top shows featured titles. It moves on by itself every 30 seconds and pauses while you hover over it or touch it. Click a side banner or the arrow that appears on hover to move to it; click the centre banner to open the title. The slider has no end, after the last banner the first one follows.

Rows

Rows include New On Baker+ (newest first), Action / Adventure, Special Selections, Drama, Fantasy, Award Winning Works, Baker+ Originals, Upcoming Releases, Coming Soon, Comedy, Movies, Thriller, Crime, Most Viewed Titles and Baker+ Picks. Galleries appear as logo boxes and as gallery features with a "View Gallery" button.

  • Hover over the right end of a row to reveal an arrow and click it to slide the next titles into view. On a phone or tablet simply swipe.
  • Hovering a title outlines it in blue; clicking opens its content page.
  • Most rows show at most twelve titles in random order, reshuffled once a day so every title gets its turn.

Marks on titles

Titles that won a Machinima Award carry a small white "Machinima Award Winner" mark in the lower left corner. Baker+ Originals carry the Baker+ Original logo in the lower right corner. A title that is both shows both marks.

The content page of a title

Clicking a title opens its content page.

  • Backdrop with play button. The round play button in the middle starts the title.
  • Buttons. "Play" starts the film or the first episode. "Trailer" starts the trailer and is only shown when a trailer exists. A title with only a trailer so far shows "Play trailer" instead. The round + button adds the title to your watchlist and turns into a check mark when the title is on your list.
  • Facts line. Age rating, year, length as hh:mm and the genres. Click a genre to see all titles of that genre.
  • Cast and crew. Studio, Directed by, Written by, Produced by, Music by and Starring. Every name is a link to a page listing all their titles on Baker+. Lines without data are left out.
  • Leaving soon notice. If a title will be removed, an orange line says "Available on Baker+ until mm/dd/yyyy". It can be watched until the end of that day.
  • Recommended content. A row of similar titles, chosen by shared genres.

Playing a title or trailer

  1. Click "Play", the round play button or "Trailer". The player opens in the same browser tab, on Baker+ itself.
  2. The video starts automatically. Use the player controls for full screen, subtitles and quality.
  3. Use the "Back to ..." button to return to the content page.

The video is shown in an embedded YouTube player, you are never sent to youtube.com. If a title has no video yet, the player area shows "This video is not available."

Episodes and seasons

  1. Open the content page of a series. The "Episodes" section lists each episode with thumbnail, number, name, length and description.
  2. Pick a season with the "Season 1", "Season 2" ... buttons. The list switches without reloading the page.
  3. Press "Play" next to an episode. The player opens in the same tab.
  4. In the player, a list of the other episodes of the season lets you jump to the next one.

The main "Play" button of a series starts at season 1, episode 1.

Catalogue pages

/moviesAll films and documentaries, newest first
/seriesAll series, newest first
/originalsAll Baker+ Originals, newest first
/genre/<name>One genre across all formats. Reached by clicking a genre on a content page

Movies, Series and Originals have a row of genre buttons below the heading. "All" shows everything; pick a genre to filter. Pages show 48 titles at a time; use "Next" and "Previous" at the bottom. Filtering and paging update the list in place and the address in your browser still changes, so you can bookmark or share a filtered view.

Galleries

A gallery collects the titles of one game or studio, for example the GTA gallery or the Minecraft gallery. You find galleries as the large logo boxes on the home page, through the "View Gallery" button of a feature, or directly at /gallery/<name>. A gallery page shows the gallery's logo, a short description and all titles as posters in the order chosen by Baker+.
